Giving myself ten minutes for FS this morning, so much to be done before the work grind begins again. Was pulling out Christmas stuff and reminded of a running joke with my grandfather where he'd say he forgot to add the Irish whiskey to his holiday coffee - three times! my grandmother didn't approve of drinking. Just a smile, times were very different then.
anyways, about half the decorations are up, more to do today. almost through all the leftovers and revert to normal. running out of minutes. weekend rules, enjoy the day!

I've seen neighbors putting up their Christmas lights. I don't do it any more. I packed all my Christmas decorations last year when I thought I would be moving. I do have a little tabletop tree I bought at a holiday festival about 2 years ago that I will put out and I'm thinking about putting out my Christmas village.

I don't put up many decorations either anymore. I put a small tree up and maybe I'll put my village out ..have a great week!!

When I moved here, the neighborhood was a little run down and no one really walked around unless they had to. No one on this block put up lights and there were no small children. Now, almost the entire street decorates and there are lots of families outside all the time. I honestly think that doing things like lights brings people out and it helps make the neighborhood a community. Unless you have an HOA. that’s a different beast altogether.

Do HOAs forbid outdoor Christmas decorations? The wealthiest neighborhoods in Houston go all-out with decorations, and I know they have HOAs.

I think it depends on where you live and who is on the HOA. When I had my condo, I put up one strand of lights on the balcony railing. I received a letter on my door a few days later noting that the lights had the ability to affect the "structural integrity" of the entire building and that I was to remove them post haste so as not to endanger the lives of my neighbors.

The HOA in my neighborhood encourages outside decorations for the Christmas holiday and we vote for the best house. People go all out with lights on the roof and just everywhere.
