Ate fewer than 1500 calories today. Would have been lower, but that massive chicken breast for dinner was 700 calories plus! Tons of protein, though, and I feel good. Did a double set of weight lifting tonight, but did not get on the treadmill. Will do an hour tomorrow. Weight still elevated, but that won't last.

Here are the 3/18/14 Tanita Numbers (before dinner; before 400 calorie [two circuits] weight lifting workout):

700 Calories! Are you sure that wasn't a Turkey or an Emu?

When I dropped that low I pretty much felt I had been dragged behind a horse with a rope like in one of those old westerns - minus the cactus.

I don't know Bill. I was eating 2,000 to 2,500 in maintenance. I dropped down to the 1,500 level the last few days and I feel tremendous. I felt more sluggish with the higher calorie count. I think I like the 1,500 - 2,000 range better than the 2,000 - 2,500 range as long as I'm eating mostly protein, healthy fats & healthy carbs and laying off the junk. I think you're on the right track. Good Luck.

I think TX is right. 2000 seems awfully low for maintenance. I'm 170 and lift three times a week for an hour and I think mine is closer to 2500. I'm not saying you're wrong. I just think it's unlikely. Your BMR is 2300? Your maintenance can't possibly be below your BMR. Something's calculated incorrectly.

Go for it Bill! I know you'll make it. I agree wholeheartedly with you. I believe that once you have raised your calorie count up for a while, when you give it a drastic drop like you're doing, you will see some fast results. I went from 2,500 calories per day to 1,500 this week and I've dropped 5.8 lbs in 6 days. I'll move my calorie count back up over 2,000 sometime soon and let my system adjust before I tweak it again. In maintenance mode, for the very reasons that IF works so well, I believe that its important to not keep your calorie counts static for long periods of time. I believe that we evolved with unpredictable food sources and our ancestors ate a lot when food was plentiful and ate little or nothing when food was scarce. So, not only should we limit our eating times, but we should vary the amount of calories we take in. Obviously, the average caloric intake should be whatever your RDI is, but instead of eating 2,000 calories per day, I think I'll do better by eating 1,000 to 1,500 some days and 2,500 to 3,000 on others, so long as I take in sufficient nutrition over the week/month in total. This is just my opinion of course, and I'm not a dietician or physician, just one opinionated guy...LOL!
