Hoping this is my last up before the down. Blob is holding for a couple of days despite me walking at night, but I have also been going to bed early which is my form of hibernation when it’s cold at night. For the most part, there is no eating or drinking in bed unless I’m sick or shivering cold. Still living on soup more than salad. For the warmth. SoCal broke my winter survival skills. I say this sitting on a heating pad because it’s a very efficient way of staying warm.

Long walk last night but we cut off the last block because the helicopter was up and you just don’t walk towards trouble. It was a good walk though, I’ve been going earlier and while there’s more human interaction, it’s still fairly peaceful. I did meet a man who said he has 14 German Shepherds and raises them for the CIA. Um, okay, keeping moving puppies.

Still no car. I’m not harassing them because I don’t want them to miss anything. It’s a good shop, i trust them and I don’t want to deal with any furry things running up my leg when I’m driving. 😳

Almost all of the holiday goodies are gone from the house. Yes, there’s still chocolate, but I mostly talk about eating it all and I’m good at logging it. I’m missing my tuna. I’m not shopping until I’ve paid for the car except for buying veggies. If it’s sunny this weekend, we continue with the yard work. I enjoyed that last weekend, it feels good to be outside and moving. If it rains, well, there’s housework. Not my favorite, but no one else is stepping up with the exception of Summer hiding things and Lili eating them.

I still haven’t figured out the issue with pics on the iPad. May play with that once I’m done with work tomorrow. Might be that I have to export, change file type and that other primitive stuff. Dunno yet. I do know it has to do with file size most of the time. Wish FS would put together some FAQs or tell me they fixed the issue if i moved to the pay version.

Going to focus on more fruit and veggies next week. 🍌 🍉 🥗 🥕 I am doing a mileage challenge walking in January. On course to finish so far but it’s early. Cough gets me if the air is too cold. Just keep moving, Dummy, right?

Anyways, blob holding, muscle up, water up, lazy butt. Toodles.

Good idea on the heating pad! My house is so cold, even during the day it will stay around 56 degrees. I've turning the furnace on and off a few times a day and then keep it off all night. I went to pick up my glasses today and in the bag with the glasses and case was a little round Lindt chocolate ball. I ate it without thinking. Really good. I just logged it and couldn't believe it was 73 calories. Then I looked up a Butterfinger candy bar and thought okay then. I think I can go back to some raw fruits and vegetables if slowly. Taylor Farms Steakhouse Wedge is my favorite salad fix and it was on sale. Can't log just the salad though. I can't eat it with the stinky bleu cheese dressing that it comes with

You sound like me kat, I go to bed to get warm too. Always cold. I made a fabric *bag*, filled it with deer corn and I microwave it every night and it keeps the bed warm all night long. Best thing I ever did! Keep warm!

We talked to our niece & nephew in Toronto tonight. Remember me mentioning they had mice damage in 2 of their cars? Turns out their daughter's car is a total write off due to the damage. It was repaired in December. The check engine light came on again and when the garage got into the car it was discovered the mice had chewed stuff all over the car 😯

How cold is cold in California?? Perhaps I’m ignorant of the facts so tell me because I’m laughing at ya!! 🤭

YOH, yes there is insurance coverage. The car originally belonged to our niece that died. Our great niece bought it from her cousin who inherited it. It was her first car. She is quite upset cause she says Aunty B would "visit" her some days when she drove drove the car. She would get a scent of B's perfume when she got in. She will get replacement value for the car.

I know what you mean about winter weather! For Calif especially. We too are having lows in the 30s. I like to walk in afternoon but when temp is 48 with wind chill making it feel much colder, it’s no fun. Rather stay in and stay warm by the fire! ( although my smartwatch keeps telling me to get up and move..)

The struggle is real! Keep on it and everything works out. Make the small adjustments as needed when stalled out.

I'm in winter in N.E., but it's been 'warmer' 40's. When the air is cold for walking (I cough, have asthma), I wear a buff around my nose and mouth. Hopefully that can work for you (and not make you a suspect to the helicopters)! I know how you feel, when I start doing things 'right' I have a very stubborn blob of my own, but patience and perserverence seems to be the key to moving it along!

I think it's sad that heating a home so expensive and stressful. I live on the Canadian border and we can have brutal winters. It's negative 54 with the wind chill now. I decided years ago I would not be cold in my home. We have had wood stoves (still do in one garage), pellet stoves and now hot water heat. We made concessions so we didn't have to wear long underwear in the house. We had helicopters flying over all weekend. I'm pretty sure it was a Guard training weekend.

I use my iPad for food pictures, make them square, and then pull them into the FS food diary. I haven’t had issues with them turning the image. I hold my iPad horizontal and not vertical when taking pictures. Hope this helps.

Ha. Perspective. Cold in California is different when you have an old house. The same thing that makes them amazing in the summer with ocean breezes makes them extremely inefficient to heat when it is cold. I do have a heater, but since my winter power bill is already up past $300, I’m not turning on the heat. Yes, I could spend a bunch of money and upgrade insulation, etc, but usually we only have a few really cold days and it goes back up into the 50’s. Night time temps lately are in the 40’s, but the inside temps are what counts. Currently, inside the house is 54, up from 51 when i woke up. It’s chilly. I have a little fireplace, which I use when it just gets unbearable, but for the most part it’s wool socks and layers. I know it’s really cold when I wake up because my nose is cold. We’re not there yet. It’s a bit like camping inside a house. As far as whether I know how to deal with real cold, yeah, I do. I moved away from winter. I’ve served my time. If I had to deal with it on a longer term basis, I’d renovate. For now, we sit on the heating pad until the sun comes back out and heats things up. I rarely run the AC either for the same reasons. Crazy expensive, even with solar. And wifey, I love to ski at Kicking Horse, known for the crazy cold snaps so I know I’m not a wuss. Coldest was -24 before wind chill, but i was appropriately dressed.
