Selbygirl6's Notizen, 02 Mrz 17

I got it together yesterday-preplanned my food and stuck to it. We went to dinner and a movie with friends last night. I was able to abstain from having popcorn. Believe me, it was very hard. Maybe not as hard as swimming the English Channel or climbing Mt Everest but about half that hard :-)

This morning I woke up at my usual time (when I would ordinarily go for my hike) but I was tired and my mind said, "The bed is a magical and wondrous land and you are a loyal and obedient denizen." So back to sleep I went. Losing weight is tiring people. Truly it is. The body gets fewer calories and thinks it's dead winter with no food sources. So I'm giving my body the rest it deserves and needs. I'll go walking in a bit but still avoiding the hard core exercise. Once I get 10 more lbs off then I'll be ready for some gym action and picking up the pace. Meanwhile, I'll be spending more time in my horizontal kingdom.

Also, I discovered (yet another) new study showing how exercise doesn't help weight loss. I don't know why there need to be studies. It just makes mechanical sense-no fuel=no energy. Whatever....myths are hard to dispel, right?

"Study provides new evidence that exercise is not key to weight control"

Nice drop!! Thanks for the link to the article...I did read the study and the correlation between physical activity and weight gain was with non-dieters. If you are dieting (controlling calorie intake), activity does help burn fat and maintain muscle...both key elements to long term success. What the study showed is that often people overestimate their calorie expenditures and compensate by eating more than if they weren't working out. There are a couple of sayings that come to mind; Firstly, "You can't outwork a bad diet", and "Diet first and foremost, exercise for health and quality of life". Take care SG, you are doing great!!

I have heard that about exercise myself. Who knows there are so many studies out there about so much stuff.

I just couldn't live without exercise!!! It makes me feel free, younger, more flexible. The aching muscles make me aware. They stop my back from hurting, my arms and legs are toned, my heart and lungs know how to power me....shall I go on? I think we know we all need to make that decision for ourself and not read another study. For me exercise is a vital part of my life :)

Congrats on the loss!!! My favorite saying is, "You can't outrun the fork"...

I so agree with Schmetterlinge34! I love my exercise routine and hate being away from it too long

Nice drop. I am not a gym rat, quite the opposite, but I find it difficult to maintain or lose weight when I don't exercise at all. I also feel better as well.
