Dear Maud. Don't you dare!!!! And how do you know that you didn't overeat? Did you guesstimate what you eat or do you log it somewhere else? Anyway. Giving up is not an option, and gaining some weight isn't the end of the world. You stumbled. Now pick yourself up, dust it off and go back to the drawing board. Maybe re-think how, what and why you eat. You can so do this. We got your back. DO IT FOR YOU! :)

I used to have the same problem. It took me YEARS to figure out that I was carb intolerant. It wasn't how much I was eating, but what I was eating. Refined carbs are the worst for me. I can easy gain 7lbs in a day or two of eating them. Don't give up! Just do some tweaking.

I agree with Jenny! I tried and tried over the years to eat by calories and just didn't work. Cutting carbs has made all the difference in weight and more importantly, how I feel! Conclusion 3. try something different! HANG IN THERE!

Ditto all the above Maud... Hang in there... you've been there, and can get there again!!! It's likely water retention!!! Make sure you peek at your sodium input too... Have a GREAT weekend Maud!!!

Even if you decide not to follow the plan of the group, there is some interesting research on who to tell if you are insulin resistant (carb intolerant) long before developing diabetes in the video links of the post "need more research" in the group, Ketopia.

please go to dietdoctor.com and watch some of the videos. You will learn so much. He just posted one this morning on how insulin resistant is a good thing. It's a symptom, not the cause.

With respect & kindness in my heart may I suggest 2 alternative conclusions. 1. Try taking a walk, about 20 mins, if you can. Up and out will do. 2. Think of your post the next time you eat.

Life is unfair we all know and been there as you can see. But is trial and error. First put in your mind that even if you don't see weight reducing that you are doing steps for a better health. If you lifted weight it might be muscle if you drink a lot of water and foods that absorb water then is water. Noting wrong to drink water keep doing it. The types of food are 75% of the challenge the 25% is the exercise. IF we are eating 2200 of non lean and natural foods then it doesn't count. In my case I stop drinking beer and substitute by wine and only in the weekends and measuring calorie intake. I stop eating bread and pasta if I cheat is chocolate or wine and maximum I cheat 2 days a week. So 5 days eating healthy no cheating I prep my food is the same every day but it works for me. Ex Shake/3 eggs/chicken-healthy carb ex Brown rice sweet potatoe and veggies/yogurt/fish-carb-veggies/ Monday-Friday then in the weekend I relax but still not eat refine carbs. If you cant live without cake is fine just reward you with a piece once or twice a week after you been doing good days before. My reward is wine and its affect my progress since wine reduce metabolism. In one month I did perfect food intake and 4 days workout and my body changed like in one of those shows but I haven,t convince myself to do that again. Good luck and small steps remember in the end is all about being healthy and with energy.

Don't give up! If what you are doing isn't working for you try something different as others have said. If your plan does not include high intensity exercise reduce your carb intake. It doesn't have to be true low carb/keto but even cutting them in half might be helpful. Also I would recommend logging everything that goes into your mouth to see where you are truly at with caloric intake. Use a good calorie burn calculator (TDEE) to compare to our intake. Don't use the one on Fat Secret as it is way too high. Compare the two numbers on a weekly basis and see where you are at. If you burn more than you eat you should lose, if not you will gain. Add exercise if you can to help with the burn side of the equation. Even walking is helpful. You have done well in the past so it looks like you know the routine. This is a minor stumble. Get back up, dust yourself off and keep moving forward.

It was a good read. It also make absolute sense. I really enjoy his articles and videos

You gotta look at it this way too. You would not buy a new car just because it had a flat tire. You would change the tire and be on your way. Minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. Change the tire and get back on the road. Look for what caused the flat and fix it.

I do too, nyhardhat. You would not believe how much research I've done over the past 3 years. In my opinion, that's the best thing you can do to be successful at weight loss. Even more so than exercising.
