Made it through some winter storm craziness yesterday. More winds, more thunder, so much rain that the pool is almost overflowing although there's no good reason for it to be catching that much water.

me: runs around in cold house with two or three layers on top, running tights under my jeans because I'm cold
also me: runs around yard in swimsuit and flip flops because I'm busy getting ready to get into the pool

since a long walk wasn't in the cards yesterday, I decided to suck it up and go swimming. spent a good amount of time cleaning the pool and then, just as I'm about to get in, a huge roll of thunder. so I kept cleaning the pool space for another 15 minutes before I got in. first real swim with the new watch, I was very, very careful with my back given how things didn't really work out last week. did the whole thirty minutes along with some stretching after. 888 strokes, which is not a PR, but pretty darn good considering how cautious I was being. average heart rate was pretty low at 121, but that's fine for a reintroduction to the water. 10.1 METs. interesting disparity between apple app and zones is that zones shows 21 minutes in zone 2 and 10 in zone 1, but the apple app only shows 21 minutes in their zone 1. don't worry, the words make sense to me and that's what matters. might try for another swim today, we'll see. already took the dogs to the park, but no one wanted to go in the canyon, so all good. I'll figure something out.

BF is finally home and mine again. family crisis extended his trip and it ended up being the longest we've ever been apart in years. I'm so very happy he's home.

been taking Sadie on some mini hikes in the canyon. she's gone from not being able to stand up on her own to walking with us down and up the hills and she jumped onto the couch last night because I stole her boyfriend and needed to be displaced. I'm honestly thrilled and even though it won't last forever, she's so very happy right now.

interesting numbers below. blob up, muscle and water down. I'm not sore from yesterday, but I can feel my arm and back muscles again. good thing I like that. I'm going to ask my PT about exercises for preventing that back spasm thing ever again. don't like it. this did resolve far more quickly than the last one. thankful for that.

Happy Sunday, weekend rules. this rain is going to make for a fantastic spring flower season in my little canyon.
