A few days ago I found a stray dog and returned the dog to his owner. But the owner asked me if I wanted to keep the dog because she was too busy working to care for the dog. I really wanted the dog, but we were afraid that with him not being house broken, it wouldn't work. I gave him back to the owner, but I was heart broken because it was love at first sight with this little pup.

After much consideration, we decided to take a chance, so I called the owner and asked her if she would let me have the dog after all. She said yes and today I picked him up. He's an angel and I'm reunited with him now!

I will make this work somehow!

Now here's the thing. If I had been weak and eaten pizza and ice cream like I WANTED to when I was all emotional and stressed, think what a jerk I'd feel like now that I have my happy ending?! Instead, I have my happy ending and I didn't cheat on my diet! Yay! Instead, I have a great weight loss to show for it and an awesome new doggie as well.

Giving in to stress eating is something I believe I have finally learned how to overcome. It was super hard, but now that I know how to do it, I believe I can do it again, and again, and again. I know that life will have more peaks and valleys. I will not be able to control them, but I can be ready for them and know that I've been through it before, and I can do it again.

Thanks to my many friends here on FS for their unwavering support during such a trying time.

if there is a god, then this was a test, if there EVER was one! You passed and got your reward in the here and now... if only god would always work this hard, the world would be a better place... Or do you think he just hit the "yes-to-all"-button?

And this little fellows name is??? Happy for you because I knew how devastated you were because they took him back. A little more love in your life. Congrats for staying the course and not soothing your pain with food.

Wow, what a wonderful bunch of kudos from my friends here. I have tears in my eyes reading each and every one of your replies. No name yet. He will name himself over the next several days to weeks. His behavior will name him. For now, he is "Blond Puppy" even though he is 2 years old. My current dog, Minion, just adores him. Follows him everywhere, trying to get a really good sniff of his butt! LOL! They are best buds already. So happy. "And they call it Puppy Love!" Puhpine, "Yes to All" is right!

That was a great pic of Blond Puppy in your other journal. You can see the love in your eyes and in his eyes. <3

I am so stinkin' happy for you! I'm glad that Minion gave him the "seal of approval" as well. What a WIN-WIN situation! And now you know you have the tools to get through any future stressful situations!

Yea!!! So glad you have the sweet pup back.... housebreaking is a hassle, my year old pup still has accidents but she's definitely worth it.

Happy for you with the pup and happy you know your strength in using the tools you have for resisting emotional eating. J

In the past we always used the "older" pup to train the newest addition. Maybe Minion can take over the roll of house training your new pup.

Definitely older pups help a lot. My year old has a bossy 9year old pup who makes her pretty much behave. It is funny watching them

Accidents or not, I wouldn't trade my four pups for anything. You are right, you were meant to have that puppy. I so glad that you opened your heart and let the little guy in. Congrats on channeling you emotional eating into another outlet.

It's a funny thing, but I find that once we have something that we're entirely focused on - once we have decided to be true to one cause, one purpose, or one goal - everything else seems to fall into place. So, will he be a computer service dog? Is he off to work with you in the morning? And just so we're clear, I think it may be time your avatar had you and a puppy in it.

Okay, NM, I give. Check out my new profile picture. It's me and the Blond Puppy, as yet unnamed. Thank you for your remark about single-mindedness. It's a little like deciding to lose weight/get in shape/get healthy, isn't it? Once you've made up your mind, there's no stopping a person, is there?
