Swam in the afternoon, walked in the evening. A good day all the way around. Yesterday was the first day I really got to appreciate the pool in a long time. My space, not sharing, no splashing, lifeguarding, chitchat. Just a swim and now that I have my music I love it even more. I am spoiled, but I know it, I am so thankful I've had it for the duration of this plague. I still love my walks at night, but we're having some serious issues here, and my normal routes are no longer safe after dark so I stay on the residential streets with houses and people. No empty spaces, not even with pepper spray and big dogs. Shame. The park is a beautiful place and I'll miss it until things are back to normal. It's where I go to pretend I don't have neighbors right next to me.

The big news is that despite the big bug bite on my leg being the ugliest thing I've seen in a long time and throbbing and pulsing while it was healing and all that, we're finally to the point where I don't think it's even going to scar much. I did stay out of the water for a week and have been religiously putting stuff on it and keeping it clean. Very, very happy. The ones on my feet are almost gone, this one just stuck around longer for whatever reason. Funny what becomes important when you aren't out and about all the time. Two weeks though, nasty bite.

The swim was good. I wasn't tired. My waterproof bandaid held the entire time. This is harder than you'd think. Got 858 strokes, 10.4 METs, average heart rate 146. I've kept the current speed turned up. Time was split between cardio and warm up with five minutes in peak. Thought about doing sprints after, but decided to walk the dogs. This sounds a little strange, but I feel like it's important to walk in the neighborhood so that the people who live here keep ownership of the space. I'm not much of a presence by myself, but if we all get out there and claim it, it does make a difference. My walking mileage is down overall, will make an effort to go a few extra blocks and explore streets we haven't visited in awhile. I went by a place where there was a fire a couple of months ago. Turns out they demolished the entire house. Sad when that happens. It was strange to notice the absence of house in the space. Knew the guys who lived there, they liked my dogs. Hope they come back, we'll see.

Numbers are fine. Fighting off another bout of the diverticulitis, doing okay so far. Getting much better at reading the symptoms before it gets bad. Smaller meals, less fiber (who knew) and making sure I keep moving. Not sure how it's affecting the numbers, but it does. Goal is to not get to the point where it's painful or worse. Doing good so far.

Have been hanging upside down at the end of the day all week. I rebalanced the table a couple days ago and I can manipulate the entire thing simply by shifting my weight slightly. I love that. And it feels so good. I am going to have to move it out of the living room one day, but no one's really coming over yet, so for now, it's fine and it's in a place that I use it.

My latte "art" this morning. I start off trying to do something creative, but I'm so greedy about using every bit of the foam that I just dump it on top of whatever I've made and shove my face into it. Twice a day. Oink oink. No regrets. Come one over and maybe I'll try harder. I have definitely upped the game on the foam itself. Relearning something I wasn't bad at but taking it up a notch.

Anyways, time to walk away from the digital overlord for a few hours. I need to replace a piece of plastic on my vacuum and build that floating lounge chair. Note the absence of "clean the house". Not feeling It at the moment. Enjoy the day. Onwards.

Wonderful and entertaining post Kat. Well, not about having to stay within your neighborhood. It's always a bit sad and challenging when others negative behavior limits your comings and goings. 😒 I think your foam work is lovely and looks delicious. 😋 Hope you have a wonderful weekend. 💕

Definitely plan on it, Becca. I successfully fixed the vacuum, a Dyson I bought from a neighbor a couple years back for $50. Repair guy wouldn't touch it, did it myself for $20 in parts and the good feeling of keeping it going. Still ahead of the game there. Now, on to the floating lounge chair. So many parts. Kinda daunting.

Great feeling isn't it? Nice job on the price of purchase and repair! My big repair project is working on a 1951 Roper range. Fixing thermostat and broiler. Years ago was told the thermostat repair would cost a couple hundred dollars.

Oh, now that's a cool project, Becca. I love vintage stoves although I don't have one currently. It's funny, people around here give them away from time to time, but if you try and buy one, it's big bucks.

Kat, you crack me up! 😄 My brother gave me this stove. It used to belong to his mother (he's my half-brother). Sorry was told (by my aunts) that when my father married his first wife, he gave her $500 to buy furniture for their home. Well, she went out and bought a stove for $500. My aunts thought that was ridiculous to spend the entire budget on a stove. Fast forward to after my brother's mother passed away and he was getting rid of his mother's things. We were in the garage on my mother's property and in the corner was this old beat up vintage stove. He had no interest in it and was going to have it trashed. I told him restored it was worth around $10,000. He had it restored and gave it to me. He also asked if I could store some of his mother's papers and photos and I did. One day while going through some of the items I came across the receipt for the stove. It cost $500! I'm super happy that I ended up with it. ❤

I have a 1946 restored red enamel Chambers stove. It's pretty charming.

I just read your bio..I'm impressed and agree. Loved your story about the stove. My MIL passed from Covid last year and left us an old grandfather clock. My husband loves it and said he had told his mom he wanted it when he was about 7 years old. It's huge and sits in our dining room where it takes up alot of space. We have a small home. but I could never take away those memories he has. It means a great deal to him.
