For Melissa. Banana bloom and baby bananas. The whole thing should be full, but we had some serious wind and they fell off. These should make it. They're smaller and sweeter than the store ones and the flower is really cool. Took these pics this weekend.

@livinbreezy, here's the secret. when there's a reasonable number like this, it's great. when you have multiple blooms and get 300 bananas at a time, you have to scramble to give them all away. one year I managed to give away half and freeze about 100 of them. made for a crazy couple of days.

Despite all the glamorous pictures of SoCal, fruit attracts vermin. So you have to deal with it promptly. Or else you have to deal with more unpleasant things. And it doesn’t matter if you live in San Diego or Beverly Hills.

Yup. It’s tall, but not actually a tree. I have ten in my stand, but generally one or two give fruit at any time.
