Only got to walk last night, but I did get three miles in and at quite a pace compared to Tuesday when we were dragging an unhappy teenager along with us and the entire route was red for being so freaking slow. Funny thing these days, the watch says I need to pick up the tempo for it to count as "effort". I ruined my knees and tore my achilles years ago (6 weeks in a cast) in high school, so running isn't really an option for me since I'm trying to avoid knee/hip replacement surgery in my future and have been successful thus far. This is why I swim and why despite being a tightwad, I am good about buying good shoes for my walks.

I switched up my food quite a bit this past week. I've been focusing on the shakes with added water and less volume as portions have always been an issue for me; there are no nuts in the house besides myself (no almonds) and I've added another large spinach salad in the evening whether I feel like it or not. Cheese instead of dressing on that one. I don't need to develop a salad dressing habit. I had egg whites w/cheese for dinner last night, not to preserve calories, but because I was hot and I just wasn't into it. I think I'm going to start a workout log to formalize my patterns and see if mixing it up has different results. Despite the mixed results last week, there are definitely changes. I'm wearing some old favorite shorts and they're hanging off my disappearing butt. I'd put on a belt, but it's too big too and I need to drill a hole in it or something. Such problems, right? I altered some swimsuits last weekend, tightened things up a bit so I don't need to buy new ones until the sales are really good. The lack of chlorine in this pool is amazing, it doesn't eat my suits up nearly as quick as the public pools. It's a nice change.

So onward we march.
