John10251's Notizen, 10 Nov 15

As a FitBit user and looking at the data tracked I'm starting to realize that it's not all about the number of steps taken. It's more about calories burned. Steps are just a way to get there. Things have not changed. It's still all about calories burned vs calories consumed...

Agreed, I love having my fitbit but because challenges/ranking is focused on steps I tend to concentrate too much on getting that number, often at the expense of time I should spend on strength training work.

Yep! At the end of the day, that's what it boils down to . . .

I'm not sure but I believe that FitBit may recognize the calories burned during strength training...

I have a fitbit and really enjoy the information and challenges. Caloric burn, based on activity, for me, is the bottom line. I have looked around for feedback on the accuracy of the fitbit calorie count and have seen mixed reviews. According to the fitbit I burn about 3800 kcal/day, but, according to charts, my BMR + activity level should produce <3000 kcal/day. Has anyone else compared the data?

Yes you're right, it does register the calories burned for strength training accurately. I actually tested that one time with a manual exercise entry and the estimated calories from that were within 2 calories of the amount the fitbit said I burned in that time period. It's raining out here today so my workout will likely be from the total gym and maybe exercise bike, not much will register in steps but calories burned will be good.

Which Fitbit do you have John? I have the lite thingy that clips to my belt, but I do not find it very useful. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
